Engage Ministries started in 2004 with just a vision. At that time, founders Joe and Kayla DeScala had been married less than two years when God began to speak to them about starting a marriage ministry in their church.

They spoke to their pastor and told him that God wanted them to start a ministry. With full support, he gave them the go ahead to move forward with their plan. Knowing that they couldn't do it alone, they put out a request for help. Four other couples responded and the ministry began to take shape.

The next several years Engage led marriage classes, organized retreats, sponsored guest speakers, and began reaching out to marriages in the community. As time passed, the team realized that the need for a support system for marriages was more important that ever and not just within the church. The vision of helping the entire community and beyond became the driving force for the ministry . In February of 2009, Engage Ministries incorporated as it's own non-profit organization to better meet the needs of marriages around them.
